I am looking for rolls of Ike's to search through, If I go to my bank do I have to specifically request Eisenhower rolls and will they do that. I thought maybe if I asked for a roll of dollar coins they would give me the presidential dollars or something and I don't want them.
You do have to specifically say Eisenhower rolls, but most banks only have rolls of presidential dollars, so you will probably be denied. If they do give you some Ikes, then kudos to you.
I've gotten "wierd" looks from the tellers and the "I'm sorry....". But, asking for dollar rolls is ok and then you keep your fingers crossed I suppose it depend on the bank.
In the past couple weeks I've called or dropped in to nearly 100 bank branches and found maybe 30 Ikes total. And that is more than I was expecting because one branch had $20 worth. As for ordering them, it's very rare. I've only heard of a couple people that have done it since I started roll hunting, and one of them (maybe both) had a contact at an armored car company. Never hurts to ask, though! Good luck!
