    That's one of my favorite collecting categories. Artistic PMD. Could be counterstamped, hobos, love tokens, "graffiti", overstrikes . . .

    I never get tired of seeing it. What is in your collection? I'll start with this one.

    I have some love tokens but my favorite are advertising pieces that have a counter stamp. I just don’t have any photos of them.

    OK… I wouldn’t call this creative… But it intrigues me that so many late 18th and early 19th century pieces have an “X” scratched onto them. I have an early 1800’s half eagle in my SDB that has the same “X” scratched into it. I see so many that I believe there has to be some practical reason.

    There is a reason that an X is scratched into the coin. The problem is I can’t remember what that reason is. Every year old age seems to get worse. Lol
