Crazy Brazilian souvenir spoon made from 1811 coin.

    I never ever know what is going to come across my desk. I have to assume that this is a souvenir made for the tourist trade... It's pretty cool. The spoon part is made from an 1811 960 Reis that was overstamped on a Pillar dollar. It's hard to see in the pictures but it's there.

    The coin was then given a bowl shape and soldered to the bars that go to the other end when they split to hold a 33 Karat rough emerald... NEVER seen anything like this before. I wanted to share.
