Putting myself together a little stack to sell at FUN for walking around money. This is one of my earliest gold coins. Folks, this one is hideous. So much so that I am embarrassed to offer it. With gold being so hot should I take it in hopes that I can find a buyer?
Honestly, I couldn't say with any certainty. I was once told that the copper in gold coins will oxidize red. Best I could figure.
I wouldn’t sell it just yet. I’d wait until later in the year when gold is higher and it will be higher.
If you feel like gold still has legs, but you're worried you might miss a good opportunity to sell it at the FUN Show, you could sell it to Rarcoa and put the proceeds into another gold coin you like much better. They'll buy most anything . . . at a price.
Never heard of them before. Had to look them up. Was just hoping I could score something near spot for the worn out old eagle. I am pretty satisfied with my gold holdings now. I almost couldn't shut the lid on my SDB yesterday. But if I could get close to 2k for it from somebody at the show, that would make for some decent FUN money.... And I wouldn't have to look at the ugly old piece any longer.
Their 15 minutes came from the Apostrophe Auctions that started in 1979. I had their first catalog. It was really nice.
