Picked these medals up the other day. Thought the first one was real neat. Its a brass medal(HK 289) from the Pan-American Expo in Buffalo New York, 1901. The other is a medal/token for the 1966 Carrot Carnival, BE-LO-CE Coin Club. Signed by a Fred (?)something.
Nice, I have the Pan-Pac & love the design. Esp the way that North & South America are depicted. you mentioned: "The other is a medal/token for the 1966 Carrot Carnival, BE-LO-CE Coin Club. Signed by a Fred (?)something." That is a wooden nickel, very popular collectibles back then.
I "echo" Treashunt and De Orc about what they are. I don't collect medals nor wood nickels, but I enjoy seeing them courtesy of collectors who do and so I thank you for sharing the acquisition. Clinker
You dont know how honored I am to have the legendary Clinker to respond to one of my posts; Thank You! - - - - - - - - - The Pan-Amer medal is a beautiful medal. I couldn't resist getting it at only $1.50! The wooden nickel was free.
byrd: YA got the Pan-Pac at $1.50!?!??! Wow, in a few minutes we should be hearing comments about 'ripped off little old lady' or 'the evils of cherry picking', or similar nonsense. As for me: CONGRATS! :thumb: Great buy.
Actually at the flea market I go to, a man had 4 tokens and he wanted $6.00 for them so I got them. The others were just tax tokens and a carwash token.
Even if you throw the others in the trash you made out on the deal! Nice. [note: it was a guy so no 'taking advantage of little old ladies' comments, please. And, no, I don't believe that he was a cross-dresser.]
