First off, I love 'Cigar Boxes' and the gradual toning they sometimes impart onto the raw coins I keep in them... Here are a couple of nice looking 1957s. What are your thoughts? Take Care Ben
I like nicely toned coins and those look like they are off to a good start! Thanks for sharing Darryl
Bonedigger, is that a couple decades of storage? I ask because I put a bunch of AU/BU nickels in a plastic tube. Since I didn't have 40 of them, I took some paper from a legal pad and crumpled it up so they wouldn't shake around in the tube. After about 2 months, all the nickels had a yellowish tone.
toning putting coins in a plastic tube and putting legal pad writing paper in with, the paper has sulfur in it which may cause yellowing.
Bone, what's in the cigar box that makes them tone, they look good. How long are you going to leave them in? John
Please, that is not AT. Just because someone stores something in a container that causes toning it is not considered AT. I have a number of coins that are in old brown envelopes, and they are toning nicely. Sure, they have been going for several years now, but that isn't AT either. It is the sulphur that causes it.
Wow, very nice frankies Bone! :thumb: I put the first one at about a 64, and the other one a 63, possibly an FBL? Either way, very beautiful coins man! :thumb: Phoenix
