Couple Of Finds From Today

    I found these Buff's role searching today. If anyone could look at them and see if you have any idea what year they would roughly be from, that would be great. I don't want to try and bring the date up if they could be rare.

    The third one looks to be a 2010 D ... :smile Just my opinion.

    I am in the same boat. My oldest confirmed coin from circulation is from 1919 but this nickel that I recently found in a box may well preceed that year. It would be cool if the date could be determined by variety (1913 had multiple variations on the reverse, for example) or by some method that doesn't require acidifying the date.

    I believe that all Buffalo with the type 1 reverse were minted in 1913. I'm no expert, especially on nickels, but that looks like a type 1 to me, NOS. It doesn't have the sharp line of a type 2 and you can tell from the V that the F and S of "FIVE CENTS" wouldn't be touching the rim as they do on the type 2.
