These two coppers arrived at my house just before the New Year. The first one is an 1839 Matron Head ‘Booby Head” variety large cent and the other an 1849 Braided Hair large cent. They both have seen a bit of circulation, but are a nice addition to my large cent collection. Both have evidence of old cleanings (tough to find large cents that have not experienced a cleaning at some point in time). Old U.S. coppers have a special charm and are my favorite to collect.

I like the overall look of that '49-er.
