Found my first repeater note? I forgot what they are called honestly sorry. I know it's not a radar. Not in that great of condition. Seems to be crinkled a lot and has a small tear in the upper right corner. Also found another interesting 20 with the 666 and 999 but didn't know if it would be worth anything. some creases and bends no tears though Also the 100* is from a run of only 320,000 but it's beat up already which ticked me off. wondering if that is worth anything? the top seems to be crinkled up from a wallet. Also the 5 is just a low serial number. Also somewhat beat up but I know someone said low serial numbers are below 10k and I found one Just didn't know what it was worth. normal wear and tear without the tears
I believe the numbers like you have 22112211 is called a repeater note. I don't do paper, but I've found them in the past, admired them for awhile then spent them. You'll probably get better results in the paper money forum...
after the redesign I thought this section was for paper or coin. guess I shoulda looked a bit further in! Will paste it there.
You were right to place them here, I just thought you may get a little more info in the paper section thats all...
A "radar" is a palindrome. It reads the same forwards as backwards hence the name "radar". A "rotator" reads the same upside down as right side up. A "repeater" repeats numbers or a series of numbers.
BTW, The "rotator" type of serial number is not as recognized in the U.S. as a collectible as much as it is in Canada. In Canada, it is even listed in the price guides and priced slightly higher than a "regular' two digit radar.
