There are many coins he could buy other than the ones he did. Perhaps he saves or likes large cents or perhaps he wanted something further back in history? You could ask your question about any coin purchased and posted verses others available. It's a matter of choice.
Or maybe he actually, you know, collects lowballs. Some of the lowball registry sets are quite impressive. I was going to do that until I discovered ancients.
Nothing wrong with those as long as you are happy. They are a little rough...but they still need a good home.
I like them quite a bit. Is there any way we could set up a dislike button or something, so that when someone says something rude and crappy like "Why didn't you invest the $7 on an IHC?" we can dislike it?
no. No dislike button. No more valedictorian so people don't feel bad, nobody gets cut from the team, last place in the tournament still gets a 'participation ribbon ' and every game ends in a tie. That way no one gets offended.
Except the people who get offended by rude comments in response to their purchases. Edit - oops - missed the sarcasm.
I just picked them up because I only have one large cent its a 1851 I just wanted a couple more didn't matter condition to me
thats cool. any large cent is fun in my book. I did not mean to downplay your coins by my earlier post. You might find yourself more interested in them and get some better preserved ones. The later ones are not too expensive in say VF grade.
I just have a couple as types, but I wanted on from the late 1840s to remind me when the Mexican War was. I could never remember, but now I have an 1847 large cent to remind me.
No offence taken no problem with what you said by IH do you mean Indian head I have quite a few of those just wanted to expand my large cent a little bit my 1851 large cent is prob around a vf but I think its been cleaned but still enjoy it
As long as you're happy and realize that shlock like this will never go up in value. I would wait until I could afford a problem free unholed, uncleaned example in at least G-6, preferably F-EF. A dealer would give you maybe $1 for the pair or not want it for free.
I really don't think the OP is concerned with resale value of these, or if he could get nicer examples for more money.
I don't plan on selling I just got them to have them it don't really matter to me if this " shlock " goes up or not and maybe I don't have the extra money to throw around on problem free ones I just collect to collect
