Question on counterpunched cent. I realize they aren't worth anything, I just keep them because I think they are neat. I found this odd one tonight roll searching and was wondering if anyone would have any info on the origin of the stamping. Most I find are just sports figures or Kennedy facing Lincoln, and don't distort the surface. This one raises Lincoln's shoulder and appears to be some sort of club insignia. Any help would be appreciated.

It appears to be a symbol of Freemasonry.

I was thinking along the same lines. My wifes Grandfather was a member of the Freemasons, I will have to see if I can dig through his stuff and find anything out.

Googled it you are right on the money. It is the square and compas, the most universally known symbol of Freemasonry.
