    Hello to all!

Let me first introduce myself - I´m a collector of world coins from Bavaria and I´m hoping to find informations to a 1802 US Cent coin in my collection.

As you can see on the scans, it has a damage on the bust, and I believe it to be perhaps a countermark.

    Could anyone please help me?

    Greetings from Bavaria

I would say that someone made a hole in the coin and then he or someone else filled it or pluged it....so in other words....its damaged.

No, it´s definitely not a filled hole. And I don´t believe it to be just a "try-to-make-a-hole" because of the position near the center of the coin.

(sorry, my english is not the best)

I have seen a few holded coins in holes in the middle....so I would just go with some damage.

    Hi Razorback

Counter stamps more often than not are clearly Identifiable in design, there purpose would make it necessisary since it was this mark that made them legal tender in the country -state in which they were used.

the cent pictured is worn and the object in the center may have been sharper at some point in the past, but to me it really looks more like damage,, at this point with no way to actually attribute it .
