Counterfeiting dirty money 100s of years before coins were invented

Neat. Funny how much that hoard shown in the article looks like much later Viking hacksilver.

But then I guess little bits and bobs of broken jewelry and such didn't differ a whole lot between the millennia.

Silver was silver (or not, when counterfeit, as mentioned in the article), and the form it took was pretty similar regardless of the era.
