    What's "tricky" about it?

It is interesting, We can see the spike on the letter “E” of United and we can also see some kind of depression on the letter “D” of “Five D”.

I personally not 100% sure if it's authentic or not. What do you think?

I vote counterfeit. Unless it’s the photo, everything about the details of the design appear to be a bit off. The over her ear looks to be too wide, and her crown is not quite the same as the real think. When I can get to a desktop, I will post pictures of a genuine piece to see if you agree.

My guess is this may have been made in the Middle East in the 1960s.

I don't have a photo of a 1900 half eagle, but here is a 1903. The design elements were the same because the dies were made from hubs.

Thank you for helping me out, you might be right, but sorry for the bad photoes, I tried to scan it but the 2x2 seems like to ruin the scanner result.

What grade is your coin? I actually just took out my half dollar and looked at it, the photos is way uglier than the real thing. I will have to rescan it, but right now my hand is very sweaty and I am not in the "right state of mind".

About the spike on the letter “E” of United and depression on the letter “D” of “Five D” in my coin, is it a common thing in the real coin?

I sold that 1903 some years ago. I think that it was an MS-64.

NGC graded this one as an MS-65.

At first glance I asume an original coin.
The color ist ok.....that's the first marker.
Light wear which diminishes the coin to a low AU Grade is another one.
But I really dislike the Word Liberty in the coronet, it looks a little weird.
So this one is not worth to be third Party graded.....and therefore we will never know:sorry:

Agreed. And the E with the spike is weird too. The depression on the letter D seems to be a hit. In addition the coin appears to be damaged on the reverse, next to the eagle’s head. There’s also a rim ding at 2 o’clock. I’d say it’s gold, but not genuine.
