That sucks, I in the process of adding a fake Hawaiian $1 to my collection... but i kinda expected it was for the price i paid..

Fake planchet? You mean not an official Mint planchet, don't you? And unless a counterfeiter was producing a mass number, wouldn't they just use a mint blank, which can still be purchased inexpensively? Can you give us more info?
I'd still enjoy having it, for a cheap price. LOL

 

The planchet is not a Mint product. Some are struck on genuine planchets, but not this one

 

Looks like poor quality spark erosion dies.
