Counterfeit coins can be found anywhere - not just in the US and on eBay. A man in town for a coin and stamp show noticed these coins - "among the prized exhibits" in a gallery in Malaysia - were fake. The counterfeiters were probably thrilled to have their creations prominently displayed as the genuine articles. 100-year-old China coins turn out to be fakes
What I found interesting is that no one at the gallery noticed the coins were fakes. They (the people at the gallery) were probably not coin collectors and could not be expected to be able to spot counterfeit coins. Many counterfeit coins today look authentic to the general public (and a lot of coin collectors).
I wouldn't doubt that one bit, the world is changing at an extremely fast pace and unfortunatly its for the worse...
