I recently bought this 1887 JH 6d as part of a lot from a dealer (first 2 pics without flash and second two with flash):

In my opinion, it is a rather crude modern cast counterfeit (likely originating in the Far East) as the surfaces are very rough (potmarked), yet smooth, it is very shiny, and details appear soft/weak in places but without signs of wear. Also, the edge reeding is only present for half of the coin.

    Your thoughts?

Yes, very nice old fake! Keep it as a souvenir or give it away!

Why not go back to the dealer and get your money back? That's what I would do...

i agree, that looks to be a cast fake. if you keep it, be sure to label it as a fake.
