What tells you it’s a counterfeit, aside from being whizzed/polished within an inch of its life?

That poor lady has spent more time on the buffing wheel than the chrome on my old car.

To me, it looks like a genuine (if egregiously overpolished) example.

If it is indeed phoney baloney, I’d like to learn what I overlooked.

@masterswimmer my 1st step is always to attribute the example; there are 7 varieties listed but it does look a lot like this one without digging any further:

    Seller does state "cleaned":D...

Seller has a mixed bag of items for sale, some nice, some turds, and very low feedback. They're either new or sketchy, idk which.

He's not new, he's been a member since December 2018. However, it is a strange mixed bag he's selling.

Well, back to the OP- @masterswimmer - what’s the certainty you mentioned?

    I see a bad coin, but problem-bad, not fake-bad?

    Jack, thanks for chiming in.

As far as attributing the subject coin to your variety shown, please compare Liberty's foot to the ground. In your example her foot just touches the ground. In the subject coin her foot is 'floating' well above the ground.

The subject coin, Liberty's ear has a detail flowing down into the ear, your example doesn't.

The aggressive cleaning and polishing could have something to do with the anomalies I mentioned.
