Was shopping in the disney store looking around, bought a few things and when the employee handed me my change, 5.47, I look at it and there is a buffalo nickel! But there's more. I went to put the five in my wallet, and the year is 1977! Not rare, but still something neat to put in my collection! I'm still trying to determine the date on the buffalo nickel, looks like a 1932 but that can't be right, I don't think any were minted in 1932, but still worth about a buck I suppose. It was my first buffalo nickel found in circulation. I really like the five too. It's neat to find things like tham in circulation, which goes to show, still some interesting things out there to be found by a collector. Just wanted to share my finds with yall.
so far in circulation i have found a 1944 wheatie, 1981A $1 bill, and a 1995 $5 bill (old style). oldies are still out there! thats amazing that you got a buffalo nickel in change! people barely find them while coin roll hunting! great finds!
that would have made my month! i can't belive people can't find silver washingtons in rolls, but they get them in change!
i once heard of this one guy over in another forum say he got a $500 box of quarters and found no silver. then, he went to get lunch and he found a silver quarter in change. its amazing!
It is all my falut! I am so sorry :headbang: I was bored at work at the hospital last week and dropped abotu $4 in modern Kennedy halves and a quarter's worth of dateless buffaloes to pay for meals
Sorry Coinlover, I'm not. Our DFAC clerk is a part time collector too, so I am pretty sure they were rapid changed out after I left. lol I still have another 20+ 1976 to 1990 Halves floating around I thought about spending. The Buffalo was more of a gift for her, I knew it wouldnt get past her after talking about the Buffalo the day before.
What condition are they? Normally the halves I get are scratched and dinged and look horrible. I normally just hold onto anything Au or higher. I live in PA, so I don't think it came from you. Still, I can imagine the nurses face when she saw the nickel. Phoenix
I get dateless Buffs from a local dealer as change from the register all the time. And I spend them too. Without identifying marks, they're worth all of 5 cents. And by spending them, maybe some young kid will get the numismatic bug.
Come and spend it in PA then! lol j/k I save junk silver. I have always liked it. I have always loved silver to. Phoenix
