A guy was trying to advertise this coin to my friend. He was boasting with it because he said he got a 1000 dollar offer for this coin. But I dont think it will worth it.Even I havent got the faintest idea about the coin like emperor,king,date.etc.Please help.
Looks like Diocletianus with three fates on reverse (holding rudder and cornucopia, or monetae with scales and cornucopia) ? Not a coin i know as common. But i am not really into Romans. The Roman experts can probably give you a definite answer.
I certainly wouldn't pay it, but it may very well be worth the price. I think its an Diocletian, AE Medallion,287 AD. IMP C C VAL DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG, laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right / MONETA AVGG, the three Monetae standing left, holding scales in right hands and cornucopiae in left, at their feet to left, a pile of coins of gold, silver and bronze. Cohen 325; Gnecchi 14. If this is the same, there is one in better condition on acsearch.info that sold for over $33k: http://www.acsearch.info/record.html?id=145249
as fas as I see, they are silvered on copper right?but mine has lost silvered layer so it looks copper.Am I right?
What are the dimensions? For many roman coins, size is key. What might be a relatively common coin in AE15 might be a very rare item in AE32, so size, if you are asking opinions from a photo, are usually very helpful.
http://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?pos=-10629 The type is known as a fake. Being real would greatly increase its value. being offered via a fuzzy photo of one side is not a good sign.
The photo is blurred because of the photo taken with a mobile phone of my friend's.But the owner of the coin said to me that it was sold already for 2500 dollars.
