Hi everyone
Hope this is okay to post this thread, but going through some old Nickels I had saved from buying rolls of nickels awhile back and saw this 1948 and my first thought was he looks like he's smoking a cigar. Just thought it was funny and wanted to share.

That's ok. Apparently Washington was a pipe smoker. He DID grow "hemp", don't ya know, lol.
(not my coin, but available for $90, or so)

 

I found this in a box this week. I feel like it fits here

 

I just read a book about the Pope Plantation and Washington's birthplace.
Excavations around the foundations recovered something like 274 pieces of clay pipes.
