Here we go again: Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/1875-S-COPPER-T...0QQihZ006QQcategoryZ11978QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem love the commentary: "Here is an incredible chance to pick up the deal of a lifetime, up for auction is a 1875 S "COPPER" Trade Dollar, this is the only one I have ever seen. " Yup, a trial strike! Probably the forger's trial strike!
Then you may like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/1875-S-U-S-TRAD...3QQihZ013QQcategoryZ11978QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem even from this crummy picture you can see that it is a fake.
Hmmm? A trial strike with brand new dies that are cracked? I think the seller and potential buyers are cracked!! It lookes like it was toned with wood stain.
That's it ! Maybe that would explain this one as well... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160113425494&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX&refitem=230141092643&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget
Guess What. There are scam coin listings on eBay. I know, it's dreadful news, but I thought you all should know.
Well, I thought it over, and there was no easy way to say it. I thought the news would be easier coming from a friend, than hearing it from a stranger. Believe me. I take no joy in breaking this to you.
900 Fine: Actually, that one is ligit! It was a common practice to carve up Trade Dollars and make: "Potty Dollars". They are popular collectibles.
> scammers on Evilbay < Just had, for the first time, an old German coin delisted from eBay before I could buy it. I'm fairly experienced in this series and the picture looked OK. Put in a fairly high bid. Coin disappeared a day or two before the auction was supposed to close. Searched by item number and subject. Had the email of the seller, first contact for me, but she did not respond to my "why" inquiry. eBay boilerplate says high bidder will be notified by email if an item is delisted but I was not. eBay's help forum said to try, believe it was "whyend.com" but that just yielded more boilerplate intended for a seller who had something delisted by eBay. Oh well, maybe I will see that denomination and date again sometime. Bob - from Anaheim, Calif.
Welcome aboard,Bob.You could always put in a report with www.ripoffreport.com & www.coinaf.org . Aidan.
Not suite sure why he would do that, as he wasn't ripped off, just had had a coin he wanted removed by ebay.
Are you sure eBay cancelled the auction? The seller has the right to do that, as well. The seller doesn't have to give a reason. Perhaps there was an "offline" offer made, and the seller chose to take it. There may have been a mistake made during the listing. Who knows?
