I found this copper plated nickel today while searching through 100 rolls. Why oh why would someone do this to a perfectly good 1954 D nickel? Have they no shame? It kind of looks like a penny on steriods though.

    I have a 2004D that is gold plated. I don't know why.

I just found a 1964 D Nickle at a bank that is copper coded and weights .489oz. A coin store wants to buy it. Should i sell it and how much?

Looks pretty ugly. I seem to find a lot of pennies that look like they are gold plated (from the 70's). I recall doing that in chemistry class (well I think it was brass coated to be 100% correct), so I'm guessing many of these are probably from high school chemistry.

Howdy stahl - Welcome to the Forum !!

Are you sure about that weight ? That's almost 3 times as heavy as it should be. Can you post pictures of this coin and tell us how thick it is ? Or is it thicker than an ordinary nickel ?

We need a “drunk” vote to go along with the “like” vote
