Is it true there is like a 1943 copper penny that they only printed 50 of? My one friend told me there was, there was a little copper left in the machine and they made 50. Is that true?
A very small number of genuine 1943 copper cents are known to exist. They have been the subject of a number of threads, including this one. Now, please repeat after me six times: "Penny" is a British denomination. The United States Mint produces One Cent coins.
I recently saw a post referring to these coins but don't know where I saw it. The story was about the 1943D copper Cent, The 1944 Steel Cent, The 1944D Stell Cent and the 1959D Cent with the Wheat Back. They all actually are real and some have been authenticated by grading services. I remember when I was a kid everyone used to think that there were no such things, but there they are.

Hey thanks Mijko0. I knew I saw it somewhere. But at my age I just can't remember things like where. I think I saved it on my hard drive and printed it out also. But when I save things on my hard drive they disappear somewhere in space. The items I print out about coins are in a pile that I promise to put in order some day, maybe. I really appreaciate your link to that information. I want to show it to a few friends that think I'm a liar when I mention those coins.
Just out of curiousity is there any one out there that has actually seen any of the ones mentioned in that article. Anyone own one?
