Do you guys think that anyone will ever be buying copper pennies for more than face value? I have acquired 20000 copper pennies and was wondering if you thought they are worth holding on to.

    dsmith23 Gotta get 'em all

Look at completed auctions, I see no reason to buy them for more than face myself.

More often than not you break even or even lose money selling them on ebay after you pay fees and stuff. IMO it's not worth the effort.

If you can get that, kudos to you. I gotta say, my time is worth more than that though.

Thats not to much time. What would you have done with the copper anyways?

The time it takes to sort it out, put it on the 'bay, wait to sell it, get my money, ship it out, etc... isn't worth it to me.
It's not like copper pennies are rare or anything. If I really wanted some I would go to the bank, buy a brick, and sort it. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Fair enough my goal is to get 1000 dollars face. I am 25% of the way there.

    That's a lot of $$ to move.

I go through pennies like crazy. Wheats and indians are my favorite coins to collect.

If you figure that 25% is copper then I have gone through approximately $1300 worth of copper cents.

I am trying to sell all of my wheat pennies and indian cents so I can continue my copper goal

I used to prefer copper until I realized that $25 worth of copper takes up a ton of space compared to a nice little silver ASE :)

Ya, my $400 in wheats takes up a ton of room . It takes up a 3 by 2 foot table and it is 3feet tall.

    My $400 in ASE's doesn't :)
    I do love wheats though.

Ya I like the early dates that are unc. They look super nice. My goal is to assemble a 1859-2033 (Hopefully completed by then) set of MS64RD Pennies. I want to try and do it by buying, selling and trading with what I have now . Its going to be a hard challenge.

Good luck. That is quite the challenge.
