I found this nickel in a roll of silver nickels at work. It is a 1998 nickel that seems to be atleast 95% copper if not 100%. I can not find a value for this type of error in my price guide. Does anyone know an estimated value? Thank You!
Welcome to the forums Buttafly186. Well American nickels are actually 75% copper and only 25% nickel so could you post a picture of it???
No equipment I'm sorry I do not have a digital camera or working scanner. The coin's face side is completely copper and the back has a few tiny streaks of silver. Thank You for trying to help me.
It might be plated in copper or it might be on a cent planchet...is it almost the same size as a nickel?? Can you weigh it?? Since you can see "silver" (nickel) in the streaks I would say that it is a plated coin that someone had fun doing!!! Speedy
