Got these coins from a lot some time ago. They are 3 pence 1944 and 6 pence 1948, from Great Britain. The thing is that according the Krause these coins should not be copper color! Comments, opinions? Check the pictures... Thanks!
I have a sixpence, but it is Silver or grayish in color. But I have several 3 pence, and all of them are copper in color. I believe that they are like the US penny, because I have one that has some luster to it, and it looks the same color as a newer penny, and the others are just a dull coper color, like old pennies.
The 3d 1944 is KM849 and is made of Nickel-Brass. There is also a 1944 3d KM850 that is made of .500 silver. Much smaller in diameter and round. 1948 6d is KM 862 and is made of Copper-nickel. Your 6d appears to be discolored or perhaps struck on the wrong or a defective planchett. Perhaps Sylvester or one of the folks truly expert on Great Britain will have an explanation.
