Hello, I have about 12 to 15 quart jars that I have been throwing my pennies from pocket change into for about 20 years now. I have always checked all the pennies for anything special before putting them into the jars. My concern is , I want to bring them to the bank and get rid of them, but the older jars are mostly copper cents and was wondering if I should save these or is it alright to cash them in too? Any coments would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff
Honestly, i keep all copper cents. Right now, there is 2.66 cents of copper in each copper cent. All memorial cents from 1959-1981 are copper, and most 1982's are too, but not all. If you're not interested in investing in copper, you could always separate the copper cents, and sell them on eBay, and make a nice sum of cash
I save all the coppers and throw 'em into glass containers. Makes for fun times goin' through 'em when the grand kids come over and, as cookiemonster pointed out, they are worth more than a cent. Not like I'm gonna strike it rich by keeping them though.........
I 100% save all copper. I started to sell some today and I already have a bid above face....and I expect it to go higher. http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?_nkw...ct=&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50
So? They are "bullion rounds" now with the weight and purity guaranteed by the US Government. Just like with silver, the melting ban will eventually be lifted.
