I found yesterday what I thought was an awesome 1943. I think before it was replated, it was probably one great penny and possibly...only possibly a DD. So after some comments on my other post I knew it was garbage.

I ran across this video and thought its worth sharing for the novice like me. This video shows the little details that really make seeing this plating so obvious and easy. It shows examples and will help identifying replating.

Interesting video.. but way too long. All the person had to do was show the entire Obverse and Reverse. And I would of never had used the word FAKE.. It is not fake.. It is definitely a real Cent that was just replated.
So in my opinion it is just replated.. not a replated fake.. does that make sense?

Agreed, fake is a dumb word when discussing this. I have to assume the guy who made the video knew this quite well and chose that word to solicit more clicks...its Youtube so "replated" wouldnt get as much dramatic attention.

The coin is not a fake. They are both original US Mint made 1943 steel Cents. It has been re-plated but the correct terminology is re-processed. Again, they are both original.
