The last issue of Numismatic News featured the 1968-S Lincoln Cent and yesterday I was looking for something in the trunk of my car and noticed a bunch of change hiding in the corner a few Lincoln Cents, couple of Roosevelt Dimes and Jefferson Nickels, No idea how it got there or how long it's been there but as I always do got the magnifier out and there it was a decent 1968-S not worth much of course but thought is was cool since I just finished reading the NN article.
Just as good as the random couch finds. Ever check between the cushions at other establishments when no one is looking?
In 1968 found quite a few quarters on the ground below the bleachers of a high school football field and a local race car track. Clinker
Now that's funny no haven't done that yet but will for now on LOL. I did notice one day driving with my brother in law his ash tray in his car was full of change about two hand fulls and I took it home and found a few silver dimes and a quarter. It's kind of the family joke when they see me the first thing they say is no I don't have any change today. LOL
I always laughed at a friend collector, who visited the thrift stores often. He would always sit on the couches and easy chairs and when no one was looking, he would feel for coins. You would have thought the employees would have checked, but he claimed he found a lot. I always thought of it as stealing. Jim
A neighbor of mine is a machanic and does a lot of side work on people's cars. When they leave the car there for repairs, he always looks under the seats for coins. The rear seats are usually loaded since not easy to remove so most people seldom look there. No he doesn't tell them about the coins either.
