today I went to the bank to ask for a couple rolls of new nickels, the gal came back and asked if I wanted more than one roll. I said sure I will take as many as you can give me.. I paid for the rolls and went to the truck and looked at my rolls. I had to look twice but I did get 2 rolls of 2004 D boats and 2 rolls of 2005 D buff's....I cant belive the bank still had these
My bank is dumb. They won't order rolls of new coins. So many people asked for the rolls of Buffalo nickels they broke down and ordered a box. They then proceded to crack all the rolls and put them in envelopes of $1 each, so everyone could get some. When I asked about the Ocean view nickels they said they would not order any because the were still stuck with envelopes of Buffalo nickels. They just don't get it.
My bank got in Ocean nickels 40 rolls but never got the Buffalo. Only allowed 10 rolls per person. I like the Buffalo's better wish they had them.
I always get a roll or two of the new nickels each time I go to the bank by my house. I don't collect the new nickels though but really have fun watching people's faces when I give them the new nickels in regular change. I suspect these new nickels will be like the famous bi-centenial coins taht people hoarded and are now spending because of no value.
I got some rolls of the new buffalo nickels from my bank for face value. I doubt they will ever be worth much more than that. The mintage for the Buffalo ones is 448,320,000 for Philadelphia and 487,680,000 for Denver. Charlie
"I got some rolls of the new buffalo nickels from my bank for face value. I doubt they will ever be worth much more than that". I think you may be wrong, as these are a one-time design. If kept in mint condition, they will eventually increase in value. But I don't expect them to jump as fast as the Peace Medal nickel rolls have.
