I dumped about $83 worth of change into Coinstar tonite at the grocery. I had already kind of skimmed most of it as it is my "end of the day change" that I always toss in a glass bottle. After everything had been counted up, I checked the "reject bin" at the bottom of the machine. Among a couple damaged coins and car wash tokens there was super cool 1943 steel penny in there in VF condition! I picked it up and just had to grin. I guess Coinstar wouldn't take it because the weight is off a little or something. Don't see too many of those in circulation anymore. Thanks Coinstar! The fact that I immediately wanted to run home and post that find in this forum indicates just how far I've gone over the edge.
Congratulations! I have never found a steelie in change. Leave it to the Coinstar reject bin to do the "finding" for you!
Welcome to the dark side Luke. I am your .... Cool find, was it in your stuff or did someone else leave it to coin return or don't you know? I sent my son out to walk the dog with a couple of bucks and he stopped at the corner gas station for a coke. He gave me the change back when he got home and I found a 1951 Roosevelt in XF condition. Earlier that week, I was returning some change to the bank after searching through it and noticed two silver quarters in the teller's change rack. He said their coin counters spit them out and he keeps them in front so they don't get fed in again. I asked him if I could buy them and he said sure. I got a 1960-D and 1945-D for 50 cents. All in all, a good week.
Sweeeeeet!! I love getting oldies in change, I just got a 64 quarter in my change from the shoppette on base just the other day.
