a friend of mine asked me to sell some stuff that she inherited and I know NOTHING about it or if it is real. how can I tell if it is real?
Appears 99% fake (pictures not quite good enough for 100%), paper is not correct. Has that phony weathered paper look. Colonial/continentals are typically on thicker paper, very fibrous. Inking is not right either, looks like modern reproductions.
One thing to look at are the signatures, are they printed or actually signed with a pen? The ink used back then tends to rust because of iron in the ink, those are a couple of things to look at.
under my 30x and 60x loupes the signatures look raised. grainy almost. does that help at all? if so I can take some close up pictures tomorrow
All of the serial numbers on these notes are on the bogus note list on the Crutchfield Currency website. They are copies.
