First of all I am extremely dissapointed that I did not come through with my prize. I actually typed the contest up when I was on my sleeping medication. Anyway the winner is miedbe7 I will post his thoughts on a continuing post. Genius. Unfortunatly I had to gather money to build a site for my brokerage and for marketing in my new career. After a few beers I sold my 1812 for 300. I am going to have this replaced and mailed out to miedbe7 asap. Please forgive me. ~Jason Becker
I hope you don't keep drinking on those sleeping meds. You know there's a great program for that? I'm very glad I found it too Hope all your other problems work out better in 2013, Best Regards.
Wow, thanks Jason. I was going to PM you to make sure all was well (hadn't seen you on in a while), thinking maybe a family emergency or something. You don't have to apologize, I understand things happen. You've been a great member for as long as I can tell since I've been on here. I hope all is well and I'm glad you liked my idea. I put A LOT of effort into that. You can patent it if you like ... haha. I will be on the lookout for that half, (maybe just give me a heads up with a tracking number if applicable), but get your own stuff sorted first. I can wait on a coin (even if it is an 1812 half ) Take care man and I hope your venture starts off well! And thanks for the contest also!
Great to see you back on line Jason. I for one have missed your Coin Talk comments. I am sure we are all rooting for your future sucess and good health. Dave
Im confused , is this in reference to this thread ? http://www.cointalk.com/t215905/ What ever happened to this thread & contest ? If it is in ref. to that thread I'm sorry (& dont take offense) but I dont see where miedbe7 posted in it.
I sent him a PM, two actually, because my contest submission was over 10,000 characters.... edit: 672 characters too long to be exact 1st PM sent 10/19/2012 8:02PM (1st contest question) 2nd PM sent 10/19/2012 8:03PM (2nd contest question)
well, i discovered that was the limit for a single pm because it wouldn't let me send it as one pm ... i wonder if im the first one to find this out.... lol edit: sorry guys, it was 10,672 characters because i just pulled up the original microsoft word document and it shows 1,821 words ... so it was an essay, not a thesis
Well I guess it goes as the saying ; He who has the gold makes the rules. Once again no offense to the assigned winner but to me it doesnt seem right ,for a public contest to be won by a private conversation . I know that thie issue for the winner was the length of their post . We (the other participants) dont know when the post was submitted , we dont know the content , & the other participants dont have the benefit of curtailing their response by reading the info or ideas posted by others in the contest. I'll just chalk this up on my list of why I dont do contests anymore. Also this is not about winning for me ,I dont need any coins. I guess it wouldnt have mattered since the OP sold the actual prize coin anyway Congrats to the winner ,Im sure it was a well stated presentation.
What would me posting my submission do? Would it have let you decide if it was worthy enough to win in your eyes. It was not your contest. It would have changed nothing.
I guess . Really though Im not saying you did anything wrong & I am truly gald that someone who put the what it sounds like is a lot of effort into the contest won. I have issues with the way the OP ran it that is all.
It would have been the best if you just posted it on the thread in the amount of 'posts' needed for you to subit your entire entre. Then none of this would have ever started. And winning a beatiful coin for something submited that no one else was able to see...IMHO i feel like that isnt right. Some people might say that you 'robbed' them from their prize or their chance to win. As a YN i would have loved the chance to add a coin like that to my collection and i am on Bedford's side with this one.
Nothing in my responses implied that I felt I did something wrong. What was explicit in your post, however, was doubt and disdain that you had for me being declared the winner. I'm sorry I did not meet your undisclosed requirements of other members participating in contests that you were not running. Also, just because you are a young collector does not give you bonus points in any contest unless it explicitly says so. I'm sorry you feel robbed as if you were entitled to something. It was an open contest and you did not win. I doubt Jason has the time to console you two for being runners-up. I won't apologize for winning a contest. If you have any other issues with this, I respectfully ask that you direct your communications to someone else because I am done with this. I would have never thought a reaction like this would occur on this site, especially from two long-term members.

And I don't feel 'robbed' of anything at all I was just saying that because other members might feel that way about this situation. And i am not looking for a 'runner up' prize at all. Im not greedy and no one should ever be. And i didnt want this to occur either I was just stating my opinion and sticking up for others who might feel the same way as i do about something like this. I do not wish for harsh feeling to be brought on anyone because of this. -Kyle
Once again I'm not upset that you are the winner , I said I was glad for you . Im sorry also that my question came across as disdane to you I worded it wrong.. I just had questions & expressed them .
Guys, I have to say I am not seeing the problem here. The contest said there were only2 requirements. Neither of the requirements said you need to post your response in the thread. As far as I can see, the entry would have been eligible, if if were posted, PM'd, e-mailed, snail mailed or sent by smoke signals. Congrats to the winner.
