    With the 1944 date I wonder if that was carried by a member of the US Armed Forces in WW II.

    Your generosity is admirable @dwhiz!

    Here's a shot of one of the three denominations minted in London for Norway in 1942 (10, 25 and 50 øre). Millions were minted, but all except around 10,000 of each were melted.

    I'm posting this because of how much my wife and I enjoyed PBS's recent airing of Atlantic Crossing. While King Haakon VII and his son, Prince Olav, were in London, Olav's wife, Princess Marthe, was living in the USA, a good friend of FDR.
