An interesting and rare 1843-D Contemporary Counterfeit $2.50 Quarter Eagle, struck on a base white metal flan (likely tin, nickel, and/or zinc; 18mm, 2.1g), with traces of original gold-plating remaining.

Struck in the 19th century and circulated alongside other contemporary counterfeit gold Eagle denominations. Send a message if you would like to make a "best offer" or ask any questions whatsoever.

Coins such as these are occasionally offered in major auction house catalogs (we're happy to share examples of past auction results for similar items). We primarily sell ancient coins (but occasionally sell other, related numismatic items), so we are offering it at a very reasonable price to sell quickly. (Price includes free signature delivery with tracking and to most countries and Priority Mail within the US).

We prefer to accept payment by sending a detailed PayPal Business Account Invoice, with full details including links to images, since it provides a high level Buyer Protection, equivalent to eBay's. We have a proven record of more than a decade of online coin sales (see, e.g., our ebay store at the URL linked in our signature below), and take pride in our business ethics and customer service. We offer no-questions asked returns for a full refund (within 30 days, please).

Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or comments. We respond as soon as possible -- usually with 24 hours or less -- and take gr eat pride in our record of customer service. We guarantee the authenticity of all items for life (in this case, that the coin is in fact a 19th century circulating counterfeit as described).
