I picked this coin up at a show a week ago and just want to get some verification as to type. The seller said it was a Constantius II but then he also told me he reigned from AD337-AD360 but I've seen mixed information indicating he may have died in battle much earlier (AD340). Anyway, any thoughts/help would be appreciated. The quality of the pictures if not very good (this one just doesn't show out like a modern silver commemorative!). :smile I've put it in an air-tite for preservation. Ken
Neither the face nor the reverse are clear enough for me to identify the coin but it does not strike me as Constantius II 337-361 AD or his brother Constantinus II 337-340 AD. You need to read every letter when talking about people who have such similar names.
I found some similar. I'm comparing to the shape of the ear (and it's prominence) as well as the shape and angles of the legs. I think the second or third are the closest, though the leg angle is not right in the second but the item being held in the hand has some similarity to what my coin has.
