An emperor I have neglected to add to my collection. Finally found one I liked at my price point. Also wanted one of these types instead of the usual large Follis. The coin is pretty much black in color, was very hard to get a photo of. Constantius I (305 - 306 A.D.) Ӕ Post Reform Radiate O: FL VAL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES: Radiate and cuirassed bust right. R: CONCORDIA MILI-TVM: Constantius standing facing right receiving Victory on globe from Jupiter standing opposite and holding sceptre, H Gamma in lower centre. a solid constantius i mat...and dang pish, you've got a nice group. didn't know you had that many. i only have one of this guy, and it is very ugly...so i'll refrain from posting it.
The photo shows HA. This follis is an ancient cast fake of Alexandria. There are quite a few clay molds that made these available in the market. Radiate fraction Carthage Posthumous - Rome mint
Congrats on your sweet new pick-up, Mat ... he's no lady, but still a great addition to your hoard!! Ummm, I think I recently posted this baby in another thread, but I never get tired of bringin'-out this puppy!! Constantius I, AE29 Follis
@Mat Great pic! Read a book on Constantius I ...too long ago to remember... On the reverse, lower center...is that an H Gamma or an H Alpha? I cannot see it well even zooming the pic. Almost looks like a snake wrapped around the letter...
Great coin Mat. I don't have any of the post-reform radiates for Constantius Chlorus, just a few of Maximian - on my want list. I do have this larger follis though, which is one of my favorite tetrarchical issues... Could you elaborate on that? It's the first I've heard of it.
@Mat Like I have told you before. You are an Evil Dude! You keep pulling me into the Empire!!! The Force says that I am of the Republic!!!
If it's any consolation, Steve, I LOVE yours as much as mine---plus yours has a 'six-pack' on the reverse, always one of my favorites.....ATTA-BOY!!!! Seriously, you're gonna tell 'MOM'??
I am sure I have complimented the lefty before and it is obvious that Mikey washed his coin up to impress us (you can see the water drops) so he deserved mention. ...and I really like the face on that Augustus one.
