worse then expected, but worth what i paid lol. and I take crappy pics lol, its just black patina with sand fill.
here the info on it Constantine the Great AE3/4 commemorative. DV CONSTANTINVS PT AVGG, veiled head right / VN MR to either side of Constantine, standing right, togate & veiled. SMALB. Alexandrian mint.
OH, ok. I don't really understand ancient yet. Thought the smalb said 8mile and it was an old rap coin fortelling of emineim. LOL Could you break the info down a little so I can understand?
8 mile hehe SMALB is the mintmark. this it what was on the listing "After the death of Constantine the Great (early 4th Cent A.D.), his surviving sons issued a pair of coins to commorate his life. In this coin, we see the veiled head of Constantine with the latin legend that translates to 'Divine Constantine, Father of Emperors'. On the other side is a depiction of Constantine standing veiled with the Latin initials -VN MR, meaning 'of Venerated Memory". Buried in the dry sands of Syria for nearly 17 centuries, this is a remarkable coin with historical Christian importance, and quite scarce in this fine condition."
my pics are not the greatest Thanks I cant say I'm unhappy with what I got. paid $10, and I do beleive the seller that it was lost. heres what i bid on though. I was bidding on it mainly because of the color.
Very nice sandy finish to it for sure :thumb: of course it would have polished up nicely LOL
now i gota work on my short list (-_-) Tiberius Caligula Nero Trajan Hadrian Marcus Aurelius Commodus
SMALB = Sacra Moneta ALexandria Beta Tough luck on that one. Contact them and they may send you the right one anyway!
Nice coin Randy! I actually like it a little more than the one you originally bid on. If you return, please lmk where you bought it and I might pick it up. Nice! :thumb: Phoenix
