I just won this fairly rare type that will probably be my last big purchase of the year. The reverse legend TEMPORVM FELICITAS translates as "Happy Times" and is a not so subtle attempt at some political propaganda. This coin was issued shortly after Maxentius went rogue and declared himself Emperor. Constantine was in an uneasy alliance with the other rulers -- Maximianus, Galerius and Maximinus II; so this type was also issued in their names. The "happy times" would not last long...at least for everyone besides Constantine. Constantine I A.D. 307- 308 Ӕ follis 25mm 7.3g IMP C CONSTANTINVS P F AVG; laureate and cuirassed bust right, seen from rear. TEMPORVM FELICITAS; Felicitas stg. l., leaning on caduceus and holding cornucopia. in ex. PLG RIC VI Lyon 283; Bastien 498
Handsome coin. Nice bit of remaining silvering. I’m not as much into Late Roman myself, but I like that piece.
