Constantine Family Tree of Coins

So I was fooling around with my LRBs tonight, trying to get my head wrapped around some of the genealogies, and I came up with this graphic that includes the coins I own. Obviously there are a lot of people not represented yet because I don't own their coinage, so this is basically a first draft.

I started with Constantius Chlorus because he's basically the father of the Constantine dynasty, even though there's some confusion as to whether he was related to Maximian. Some sources say Constantine I fabricated his father's humble beginnings for the sake of propaganda, other sources claim Constantius Chlorus fabricated his royal genealogy - for the sake of propaganda.

The vertical lines indicate unions, while the horizontal arrows indicate progeny. I only intend to include persons who had coins minted under their authority, with the exception of certain wives - to maintain the integrity of the tree. I should probably include birth and death dates, but I don't want to clutter the thing up with too much text.

I don't want the graphic to get overly large, but it would be nice to eventually include a few types for each person. If nothing else, this has helped me sort out who's who in at least one of complicated family trees of the Roman Emperors.

Any advice on the collection or the graphic would be appreciated!

Oh...and I'm also including people that married into the Constantines, like Licinius I and Gratian, etc.

No advice needed IMHO. You're doing fine and it looks really good. I'll be interested in the product as you progress.:thumb:

Never seen that done here, pretty cool really. Sometimes Wiki has graphs of family members in some of the bio pages.

The really tough one in this family is going to be Hannibalianus. I might have to settle for a pretty decrepit coin.

    Nepotian is pretty much impossible.

Hannibalianus will be a stretch, but at least they're available.

My understanding is that Nepotian bronzes are so rare that they come onto the market only once every few years, and command four-figure prices.

Lowest price I can find for a sold Nepotian bronze is $3000.... Geez!

Where? Can you post a link, just out of curiosity? It's not like I have the dough to pick one up. If I had 3k to spend on a coin, I'd have me a nice solidus.

The one right under it will set you back a cool 13k, but I think it's the finest one at WW...
