Little coins are difficult to attribute. This one has taken most of my afternoon. Constans, a tiny little Roman about 1/2 the size of a dime, LOL :D The letters I can make out on the obverse are: CO PFAVG. The reverse is just as obscure: TO SMTS. If I'm not mistaken the mint was in Thessalonica.

    Thanks for Looking

Very nice. After last weekend, I know about 50 times more about ancient Roman coins than I did before. I got 5 bronzes in an auction for nine dollars; two are too worn to be attributable at all. But I know I had nine dollars worth of fun researching the other three. They were in rough shape, and one I couldn't attribute any more than to say that it had a soldier spearing a fallen horseman on the back (and it took some VERY hard looking to make it out). The other two were a Valentinian from Constantinople, and what is probably a Constans from Thessalonica. I proceeded to read about Valentinian and Thessalonica, and I knew absolutely nothing about either before. Now I'm forming this desire to read up on Roman history, which I've never really done...and look for more coins...

Nice. I usually see bronze follis and half follis roman coins. Your coin is tinny like a obol.
