This first issue for Constans, age around 10 years old, from Heraclea mistakenly has IVN (Junior) in the obverse legend. Constantine II was the only IVN. Constans A.D. 333- 336 18mm 2.7g CONSTANS IVN NOB C; laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. GLORIA EXERCITVS; Two soldiers helmeted, stg. facing one another, reversed spear in outer hands, inner hands on shields resting on the ground; between them two standards. in ex. SMHB✶ RIC VII Heraclea 139
This is very cool! This CONSTANS IVN was the first type posted in the FAC thread on unusual/rare GLORIA EX legends: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=91887.0 Since seeing that thread, I've been meaning to try to dig all my GLORIA EX coins and double-check for anything interesting. At the risk of oversharing it, here's my only unusual GLORIA EXERCITVS so far. Bought it for the double-strike, then noticed the legend var.: "VM" where it's usually "IVN." (Constantine II. RIC VIII Heraclea 17) Possibly for "VICTOR MAXIMVS" or "Venerae Memoriae."
