This is probably well known already but I can't find a discussion on it. The D mint marked coins seems to have an extra lil branch that the P mint coins are missing, at least on the ones I have here, and we see it in the drawings on the net. Not fooling. look at and go radially inward from the left edge of the C in Connecticut about half way to the center. After this post I'll modify an image and circle it or something. Is this a known variant?
Would it be correct to say that the missing branch version is correct and the filled in branch is the error?
Wow nobody ever addressed this I guess I don't have to add more photos. I have stacks of these in both configurations. What gives?
So far it seems the D's have the full blown branch and the P's have either no branch or a faint branch, ratio about 1:2. How can this be?
You would have to point out what you are asking about. I can see that the design has mechanical doubling on lots of branches. Is this what you are referring to.
sorry I missed post #2 . this could be about anything and is too small to be worth mentioning . you may be searching way too hard but I have to give you a A for effort . try easing up and look for the coins with errors that are easy to see . the easy to see ones are the valuable ones .
this is probably just a tiny die gouge , state quarters have die gouges all over them that looks like raised up lines.this is all I know, maybe someone else can come along and tell you more about these.
