I am wondeing why the rolls of the 2004 nickles from the mint are commanding such high prices. I know they are sold out but you can get unopened rolls from the government from the bank at face value. I have a friend in calif. That is getting me 2 rolls of ca. quarters from the bank. Is it ther "official wrapper" on the rolls ? I posted a link from ebay so you can see what i'm talking about. I understand the mint and proof sets going up as there is only 1 source to get them from when issued. But rolls ??????Thanks

There have been recent threads on the subject of "original bank rolls", in which it was pointed out that banks do not get their coins from the Mint in rolls. The armored car companies, and perhaps a few of the larger banks, buy the coins in bulk, and then wrap them. The only rolls wrapped by the government are the ones you order from the Mint at a hefty premium over face value.
