May I ask the denomination? Or, can you provide a description of the item you are inquiring about?

It's probably a medal/token commemorating the centennial of the Canadian Confederation. There were $1 and minor commems, but their legend is just the denomination and "CANADA 1867-1967", with no specific mention of the event.

I believe I have the same coin/token as described, on one side is printed confederation(french and english) the date and a maple leaf in the center. Other side, a crown at the top Canada emblem (?) in the center and Canada written at the bottom. Mine does not show a denomination though. It is gold in color. :)
