Confederate Notes

My father has been a re-enactor for many years, and at one re-enactment sponsored by a museum the unit was offered to be paid in original Confederate notes from excess inventory held by the museum, and they accepted.

As one of the officers my father got six of them. I'm not sure of the details, and he mentioned some are from State banks. However, he is now looking to sell them and even more interested now that another in the unit sold one to an LCS for $750. That store isn't near him, and I asked him NOT to run into an unknown store until I did a little asking, possibly posting some pics when they visit.

So, short of value questions, what information should he at least document and have ready so we can provide everything when we do ask? Anything beyond a normal denomination, issuer, serial number? Any references he can check himself to identify obvious fakes? Being from a Civil War museum I doubt many fakes slipped past them, but then again they said they were real but all relatively common and one sold to a store for $750 so I'd guess someone missed something there anyway :)

Again, just looking for some general info right now to pass on to him. He can work on his list and specifics and go from there.

LOL, I like coins, but I may have to just snag one from him myself if it's a cheap one.
