Alright, so i'll admit it. I know nothing about coins. I've just been adding to this collection since I was about 5. I figure I might as well jump online and see if anything is worth anything. I know you guys are probably busy, and this is kind of a big task, but if you get 5 minutes, could you please look through my pile of coins and notes to see if there is anything worth keeping? Maybe how much I could sell the lot for? I am not going to sell them, not yet atleast, but I'm curious to know if anything is worth more than a buck or 2. I feel stupid posting these, because what I thought was old is nothing compared to your 1600s and such.

So go easy on me guys. I know nothing =)

btw, all of these have had the levels changed in photoshop to show them a bit better. Some look darker than they really are and some look lighter.

I dont have the time at the moment to attribute your coins but if someone hasnt by tonight I will...

In the mean time...most of your world coin pile can be found here:

    [IMG] to CoinTalk.

There were two problems with your image formatting.

First of all, there is a forum limit of 10 images per post.

Secondly, you formatted links, not images. You need to put "IMG" and "/IMG" (without the " marks) inside the opening and closing brackets around the URL of the image. Or just right click on your picture, select "Properties",then copy the result into the box that appears when you click on the little yellow picture in the formatting bar. ;)

I've corrected the formatting in your original post for the first ten, and here are the last two with your question:

BTW if I had your coins and bills on my desk, I would expect to spend at least a few hours going through the Standard Catalog of World Coins and the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money attributing, grading and pricing them. You can probably find those books (each the size of a large city telephone directory) at your local public library; along with books about how to grade coins.

Most of your pictures are nowhere near clear enough to confidently estimate the grades of the coins pictured.

You should try do do a OFEN set one from every nation.Looks like you have a good start.
From your photo,I would have to say that your 1748 Spanish piece of eight is just a modern reproduction.
We have a few experts on this type on the forum who may be able to say for sure.

hmmm that's a shame... i was hoping that would actually be worth something. I never understood why authentic looking old coins are made at a later date. Well thanks anyways.

I've been thinking of trying to organize them as much as possible, but I haven't had the time lately.

Instead of attributing all your coins (which will take a bit of time. I am going to give you a rough list of what nationalities you have then you can look on the World Coin list for them.

    You have:

    1. Italian
    2. Japan
    3. British
    4. French
    5.Thailand
    6. Belgium
    7. Australian
    8. Canadian
    9. American
    10. United Arab Emirates

Go to http://worldcoingallery.com/ and look in the list for each country I listed...there will be an option to show all coins...on the list of each countries coins, go down the list until you find the coins you have. Start with France or Italy, you have a few of both. Check the countries off as you go and if you still cant find the coins then come back with a pic of the coin...

I'll get you started with this one which I think you have, its a french Centime
