I was looking over the hundreds of auctions for rolls of PROOF coins. It's just an opinion but this would seem like a good way to cut down on the quality proof singles available in the future. There is no way I would put proof coins in a tube nor purchase anything like this. Wouldn't you think that most of the coins would have contact marks now and could not be higher than Proof 64? Comments are welcomed, Ben
Correct. But, most of the proof coins in rolls have already been sorted through. The better coins were most likely sent off for certification and the ones that didn't make the cut were placed in the roll. So, the chances of obtaining high quality proof coins in rolls is, essentially, non-existent.
Personally I agree. You'd likely find some 65s and maybe even a few 66s or a 67 in a roll of Proofs. But that's about it IMO. And for most modern Proofs those are considered low grades.
