I was looking to add some commemorative coins to my collection: I have the colombian exposition half dollar already I was thinking about getting the little rock desegregation commemorative coin NGC MS70 for $39.95 at my local coin shop What do you think about resale value? I was thinking of buying them an dthen flipping them for aquick buck so I can purchase a 1921 peace dollar. Bad idea? or good idea? Thanks
I love getting these in '70 Grade.. Desegregation is a nice one.. The Halves are nice too.. On ebay you can sell it for near or over 50 .. 80 on a good day..??? Maybe it goes for more.. I have not looked as of late.. I think I paid around 45.00 a while back
I just checked eBay. The Little Rock commem goes for $25-35 in the original packaging. Ones in MS-70 slabs go for about $50. $10 profit per coin? Nope. eBay fees will eat up a chunk of that. Take quite a few sales to get enough money to buy a 1921 Peace at that rate. The quickest money maker appears to be done by getting new Mint issues from the Mint early and flipping them quickly, particularly if you can get them into a MS-70 slab (PCGS and NGC of course).
Well considering an NGC MS-70 at $39.50 is pretty close to what I believe the issue price of there things was, and that the raw ones are now selling BELOW issue price I thing resale potential is probably pretty poor.
Thanks for the input I have decided not to get them. While I love the coin I do agree its a poor design.
I Love my commem's. But I did pass this one up and probaly going to have to end up getting one down the road just to say I have one.
Come on guys.. This was a Nice coin.. I love ALL my Com's.. Sure I may love some more then others but The Desegregation Coin was Nice.. They have a Place.. even the So So Designs (sic) I may have a bit of a thing for these.. I have MOST of the Modern in Org. Mint Boxes and several in '70 Grades.. Missing that Buffalo and Black Patriot, I even got a few Prestige sets.. I like the Book Design...
